We were spending the weekend in Detroit and decided to take a drive through the tunnel and get breakfast in Canada. Customs didn’t really have an entry code for “We’re hungry for breakfast and wanted to try something on the other side of the Great Lakes,” but eventually relented and let us through. We arrived at The Squirrel Cage – a coffee shop during the week that serves brunch on the weekends.
You ever walk into a place, look around and have “I am not hip enough to be here” run through your head? Well, that is exactly how we felt. The Squirrel Cage isn’t right on the road, but rather down an alley with the sweetest artwork/graffiti I’ve seen in years. The lights, the upcycled wood, the posters, this place was cool.
